We would like to share an account of our experience of the support service that we have received from 'Life of Mine'

For the past 3 years Life of Mine have provided a full range of Domiciliary Care together with support in the community for my adult son who has complex and at times, demanding needs.

This support has enabled him to live independently in his own home. Support Staff have helped to empower him to make informed choices and have supported him in achieving the goals in his person centered plan.

On a daily basis the support team manage his medication and monitor his health. They support him in menu planning, shopping and  preparation of meals and generally keep him safe and clean in his home.

He enjoys a good social life in the community.  He attends a range of activities that he has chosen to get involved with.

Life of Mine will always do their utmost to be flexible in the service they provide to accommodate their clients requests. They will also work closely with family and other professionals to achieve the best possible outcome and provision for the client. The employed staff are carefully selected by the management team and they are enrolled into a supportive training programme.

I asked my son

" Are you happy with the staff who support you?"

YES

"What do you like about the staff"

THEY LISTEN TO ME AND HELP ME

"What do they help you with"?

MY FOOD AND TAKING ME OUT. THEY HELP ME DO DISCOS

(Life of Mine have enabled my son to get involved with organising a monthly disco that is predominantly for people with special needs. It's well attended and is a tremendous success)

"What else do they do"

WE WENT TO BUTLINS AND DRESSED UP AND THEY TOOK ME ON AN AEROPLANE TO SPAIN.

I LIKE PLAYING JOKES ON THEM AS WELL. WE HAVE FUN

This support is available to my son due to the Direct Payment that my son receives from Dudley Council Adult Services and we very much appreciate that they make this possible. To conclude the support my son has from Life of Mine is excellent and the pressure on his family is greatly reduced due to the expert care that is provided.

Life of mine has been a godsend to me and my son. Tina has been so supportive and attentive and we have developed a true friendship with her. She is motivational, empathetic and always makes time for everyone. Her work ethic is excellent, and we're so fortunate to have her working with us.

Tina Harrison 'Life of Mine' has changed our experiences, our life, for the better. Firstly Joshua's support has continually developed his ability to have a 'Life o f his Own' thus given my husband and I, a s well as Joshua's brother's a 'Life of their Own'. This person centred, family support, has allowed us all to thrive, all enjoy our lives more.

Joshua's growing dependence, developing life skills, daily community inclusion, obvious growth in confidence. He is travel training weekly, his social groups and diary includes disco's, trips to the theatre, bowling, respite is wrap around a  our home. This purposeful support has changed Joshua's dynamics within our family for the better, his life is richer.

Ours included u  having our first holiday abroad in 30 years. Just us as a couple what a joy this was. Josh is on board and we are all enjoying the ride. This mixture of flexibility of care, a personalised programme that meets Joshua's needs and ours is truly unique.

We as a family had never experienced this before. I also have to add this. As what Tina does is so rare, she continually sets targets with me and Josh that are agreed during our meetings. Always moving forward with purposeful provision targeting specific areas that require attention eg social inclusion, engagement. A plan of action to meet this target is prioritised by Tina.

Everything Tina does is working towards a 'Life o f Mine' however that looks to each family each individual. It has focus, it has a goal. This goal, being to live the best lives we all can. For our loved ones to be happy, cared for, respected. Support that helps them to reach their personal potential, their best, what ever that looks like. Tina deserves true praise for all that 'Life of Mine' and Tina's dedicated hand picked staff deliver for this we thank you.
